An inspiring video; both from the message and the great talent of the artist. I admire the ability to take a few simple lines to create a clear message.

Just lovely, both the sentiment and the photo. When I was a child, I dreamed of living in a lighthouse. Still do. :-)

Hi, Jim! ~

Very interesting post -- thought provoking!

First, I looked up the word 'Integrity':
1. Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code.
2. The state of being unimpaired; soundness.
3. The quality or condition of being whole or undivided; completeness
from Free Online Dictionary

I live by the third definition, and I'm concerned about dangers presented by the first definition. I'm not sure if the 2nd definition applies to me most of the time, or not -- hah!

I trust everyone to be who they show me that they are, rather than who they try to convince me that they are. A person who demonstrates a 'dividedness' within their own mind or lack of 'completeness' in their persona would pose a red flag for me.

However, I also realize that different people have different moral codes and "Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code" does not necessarily make one person better or more trustworthy than another. For example, my fam of origin steadfastly adheres to a strict moral code that we do not discuss family matters outside the home. They honor this rule with great integrity. Personally, I'm not impressed by that.

Hi Jim, I absolutely loved it the way you put it across. And I agree. It's because we compare night and day that we learn to hope that a sunrise follows every sunset. It's because we see sadness that we yearn for happiness. It's because we struggle that we work hard for prosperity.
Thanks for sharing such wonderful views.

I agree we have the power to re-write our stories and no longer be tethered to our past As you said so powerfully: Without that comparison, we could not appreciate the moments of joy and sadness in our lives....
Thank you for taking part in the blog hop, Jim and adding so much to it.

Jim, great points you make here. You captured my attention from the get-go with “our unconscious mind and behaviors have already been programmed by our parents, teachers, babysitters, and the stories told us to respond a certain way.” In many ways, yes. My moral fabric was knit early on by my mother, teachers, books, etc. “We live and die by our stories.” Don’t we though? But I realize that I’m not tethered to tradition, only truth.
The baby elephant illustration is a perfect example of being programmed from early on in life.
Comparison is relative, isn’t it? It all depends on one’s vantage point. Thank you for this insightful message. (I read it twice ;-)
